Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. and Ladies Auxiliary
On September 23, 2006, The Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. and Ladies Auxiliary were established in the Diocese of Wilmington with the installation Mass at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. The organization is the largest African-American lay Catholic group in the country. The organization is located in 34 states. It has over 1000 Councils (men divisions), Courts (ladies divisions), Junior Councils (young men) and Junior Courts (young ladies) throughout the United States and . The organization was founded by four Josephite priests (founders of St. Joseph Church) and three lay Catholic men in 1909 in Mobile, Alabama.

At Saint Joseph’s our members serve as Greeters, Lectors, Parish Lay Council members, members of the Prison Ministry, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, administrators, parish nurses and in many other areas.
