St. Joseph’s French Street Kateri Circle
Our Kateri Circle is a Ministry of the parish founded on Pentecost, 2018; and it is part of the Native American Ministry of the Diocese of Wilmington which began over 25 years ago. While most of the members are of Native American descent, everyone is welcome to be part of the Kateri Circle.
Mission Statement
We, the members of the St. Joseph’s French Street Kateri Circle, under the patronage of St. Kateri Tekakwitha, acclaim our faith in God, our Creator, Jesus, our Redeemer and The Holy Spirit, our Sanctifier. As Native American Catholics, in a multi-cultural parish, our mission is to lead by example through walking the Good Red Road, welcoming all to our community, sharing the blessings we have been given and nourishing our own spiritual lives. Our Kateri Circle is open to all, regardless of heritage or religious preference.
Ministry Focus
Our Ministry focus is three-fold: Education, Youth and Healing Prayer.
Activities
Our activities consist of monthly meetings, Native American Liturgies, involving youth in making bookmarks for the national Annual Tekakwitha Conference, sharing Native Nativity during Advent and Native Stations of the Cross during Lent, attending pilgrimages and pow wows, providing a Prayer Basket for intentions to be taken to St. Kateri’s shrine at the national Conference, as well as working together on fundraisers to support the ministry and to send delegates to the Annual Tekakwitha Conference. Most recently, in light of the pandemic we are experiencing, daily prayer asking the intercession of St. Kateri who survived the smallpox epidemic. Please feel free to join us in prayer....
PRAYER TO ST. KATERI TEKAKWITHA IN TIME OF NEED
Dear St. Kateri, our Patroness and Sister in Faith, we come to you today asking your intercession with our loving Triune God, to give us the strength and the courage to stay faithful to our walk on the Good Red Road.
You truly understand what our world family is facing with this pandemic as you, your family and the community experienced the smallpox epidemic so many years ago. God spared you and He fashioned you, His lovely Lily of the Mohawks with all the graces you would need to move forward in your life through pain and hardship. Your faith in Him increased as you knew He was your Light; your hope in Him and His plan for your life became an inspiration; and the love in your heart so overflowed in goodness for others that many souls were touched by The Great Mystery. You are truly a model for us, and we thank you for taking care of us, for guiding us along the way, and for praying for all the human family to which we belong.
We lift our prayer to the Father, through your intercession and in the Name of Jesus.
Amen.
